Building new lives and relationships in the country we now call home
was never a challenge that any of us wanted to face with the
backdrop of a global pandemic, and yet here we are.
The last few years have challenged us all, but perhaps few more than
those who live far away from friends, family and familiar support
systems.
We
have been asked to adapt to extraordinary circumstances.
It's been a humbling experience for
me as a therapist as much as my clients. We have, all of us, lost
something – perhaps family members, friends, a relationship, job
opportunities, plans to build a family, property, hope for
prosperity in a new place. The losses can be obvious or less so.
Some of the things life throws at us are extremely painful.
We might be struggling with a relationship that has stagnated or
become toxic. Perhaps living our life in a country where we have few
friends, or struggle with the language might leave us feeling
isolated. We might have difficult relationships with family members
past and present, or work might be difficult to come by. Things
change and sometimes we struggle to adapt. As a result, we might
have low self-esteem, suffer from anxiety, panic attacks, disordered
eating habits, even self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
The world cannot go back to how it was before, and neither can we.
Fortunately though, we can learn to live differently – to
acknowledge our losses, if not accept them - and to build a new
version of the future where we have a chance to find contentment.
Dealing with change is something that I am well equipped to support
you with.
I am trained
to be with you through the stages of your counselling process,
encouraging you to find the kind of self-reflection and deep
awareness building that will allow you to move forward with
confidence and clarity.
Online therapy is proven to
be as effective as face-to-face therapy. We can work
conveniently, securely and efficiently fitting around your
lifestyle, location or responsibilities.
I offer a
FREE 30-minute video or voice call where
we can meet, chat about therapy and how it could be useful to you.
There's no commitment and we can talk about any questions you
might have. See my live availability and book your free session
online instantly via my website.
I
know that therapy can seem daunting - particularly
if it's something we haven't tried before. I'm a very informal
person and there is no need to be anything but yourself in therapy
with me.
And if you don't know who that is
yet, then I can help you to find them.
