I strive to bring a warm, intuitive, and highly
attuned presence to my sessions. I offer traditional talk therapy,
and incorporate play-based and animal-assisted therapy with my two
dogs, Ruben and Farrah, when applicable. I have extensive experience
working with children, families, and adults experiencing transitions
such as divorce, postpartum adjustment, and relocation. I
acknowledge the fundamental role of the therapeutic relationship and
emphasize empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard in
my work with clients. I believe we can all expect some degree of
pain in our lives, but the suffering we experience in relation to
that pain can be mediated with therapeutic support.
Over the last 25 years, I have worked with children and families in
a variety of settings, from expeditionary learning with adolescents
to advocating for children within the criminal justice system. I
hold two masters’ degrees; a Master of Health Education from
Columbia University, USA and a Master of Social Work from the
University of Southern California, USA. I am a Licensed Social
Worker in the state of Colorado.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and
Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Motivational Interviewing. Most
recently, I trained in Risk Need and Responsivity principles and
employed structured decision-making processes using Functional
Family Therapy, Multisystemic Therapy and Trauma Focused-CBT. I
maintain a broad specialty in my practice with an emphasis on
trauma, abuse, and family.
