I offer in-person individual counselling and
Walk & Talk therapy in the area around Pau and the Vallée d’Ossau in
southwestern France. I graduated with a BA in psychology - with
distinction, and my graduate work is in Counselling Psychology. I
have more than 10 years experience as a counsellor in both
university & high school settings in Canada, France and the United
States.
I work with international & expatriated individuals as well as
French nationals looking for a therapist with lived multi-cultural
experience and training. Several models of therapy inform the work I
do with clients/patients. Since therapy is not a one-size-fits-all
experience, especially in light of the eclectic international
population that we are, I tend to approach a person’s
problems/symptoms in a depathologizing fashion and instead focus on
one’s strengths, resources and successes as a guide to healing. I
have experience working with people who identify as having:
depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, attention difficulties
(ADHD), cultural adjustment and integration challenges, emotional
control issues, identity questions around sexuality/gender/or
cultural norms, struggles with addictions, body image issues,
breavment, and parenting or relationship issues. I often try to pay
close attention to how major and minor traumatic experiences may
play a significant role in the development of certain unwanted
behaviours, thoughts and emotions that take over our lived
experiences in the present. For some people who are not comfortable
indoors in a “traditional” therapy setting, we take the work outside
as Walk & Talk therapy.
